Jonathan Majors has been sentenced in the domestic violence case that began with his initial arrest in New York over a year ago. Although the actor faced up to a year in prison after being found guilty of assault and harassment in December, he managed to avoid jail time completely in today’s sentencing. Instead, the actor was sentenced to probation and ordered to complete a year-long, in-person domestic violence counseling program. His accuser, ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, was also granted a full order of protection (via Associated Press).

Majors’ charges stem from a 2023 incident, in which Majors struck Jabbari’s head and threw her back into the car they were riding in, to keep her from seeing a text on his phone. At the sentencing, Jabbari—who filed her own civil suit against Majors last month—read a victim impact statement, saying (via The Hollywood Reporter): “He’s not sorry. He has not accepted responsibility, and he will do this again. He will hurt other women. This is a man who believes he’s above the law… I will not rest until I feel that he’s not a danger to anyone else.” (Majors reportedly did not make a statement, as his attorney suggested Jabbari would “attempt to use it against him in her civil case.”)

Majors has already faced a number of non-legal consequences over the past year. He was dropped from his major Marvel role as Kang The Conqueror shortly after his arrest and fired from a number of other roles and his PR firm as well. Still, that hasn’t stopped the actor from making red carpet appearances with his current girlfriend, Meagan Good, as well as retaining a passionate fanbase. According to THR, some of those supporters even came to the sentencing wearing red beanies, where they hugged and shook hands with the actor who was also sporting the accessory.

What’s the red beanie thing about? Is it as dumb as the tiny cup?

    • zeroine-av says:

In the 21pilots song Stressed Out One of them also wears a red beanie. In that song the one who wears the red beanie sings about pleasant memories from simpler times. I think the red beanie also somehow carries that same meaning…

From a GQ article a couple years back: The Lovecraft Country star would lay his life down for his red beanie, which he wears year-round—you know, for optimal visibility on his bike and so his buddies can locate him in movie theaters. He’s even been known to sleep with it on…“if pressed.”

I mean yeah, found guilty and suffers no real legal consequences so of course he will believe he’s above the law and will do it again. He is probably blaming everyone but himself for losing his Marvel gigs.

What did he actually do that was illegal that he should get jail time for?His crime was snatching his phone away from her and shoving her into a cab. She went out partying after the fact, so she wasn’t even hurt.He is a narcissict and kind of kooky, but that is not illegal. The only reason this went to trial is because he was trying to salvage his reputation as most people would have pleaded down and got a slap on the wrist. You don’t go to jail because you aren’t liked. The punishment has to fit the crime, and it wasn’t much of an actual crime. She won. She ruined him over it and is going to get paid.  Most folks just would have broke up and moved on with their lives.

He was convicted of misdemeanor assault.

        • SweetJamesJones-av says:

“Misdemeanor level assault, also known as simple assault, carries a penalty of one year in jail. Oftentimes, this is not the punishment imposed, especially when a resolution is negotiated with the prosecutor and accepted by a judge. Even after trial, it is rare that a first lifetime conviction of simple assault, misdemeanor assault results in serious jail time.”

I am not even sure what you’re posting about…You asked what he did that should send him to jail. He assaulted another person. That’s the thing he did. That is a thing that can send you to jail. You do not have to send someone to the hospital for it to be counted as assault and it is something that is very much illegal.
He got away with relatively few legal consequences. The only major consequences he did get were to his reputation and those were consequences he himself earned because he assaulted somebody. That is nobody’s fault but his own. He assaulted another person and he ruined his reputation.I am highlighting he is very unlikely to change because he blames everyone else and his legal consequences were barely more than a slap on the wrist.
So one more time for those in the back:
What did he actually do that was illegal that he should get jail time for?

He assaulted another person. That is illegal and can send you to jail. He is not in any way a victim.

          • SweetJamesJones-av says:

You don’t understand the law. Misdemeanor Assault almost never results in jail time. He got what he should have gotten. The sentence is fair.Let’s stop acting like Grace Jabbari is a Saint and that women are innocent people without agency. This is a woman who went out and got drunk after the fight then came home and took sleeping pills. She was high to the point he had to call the ambulance for her.The reality is that she was also aggressive in the relationship and also hit him. Remember that she was also arrested, but they chose not to charge her. She was also a bad actor. Relationships are complicated. They had a spat and she basically ruined him and played the victim. She will get her money even though we know she also was a bad actor, and he will get his counseling. She will do the same thing to someone else too which is claim to be abused after starting a fight. This happens all the time.  People get mad, get physical, and breakup.  No one ever goes to jail for it, especially if the “victim” immediately goes to a party.

          • twesterms3rd-av says:

And you don’t understand what I am saying— I am saying he did not learn any lesson other than he can get away with assaulting someone. If he had learned any sort of lesson he would show some sort of remorse or even acknowledge that he assaulted someone. He has done neither of those things. You’re the one that has been moving the goalpost here, first asking what he had done to deserve jail time and then acting like what he had done was actually not that bad.

          • SweetJamesJones-av says:

No, the problem is that you do not understand the law. He got the correct penalty for the crime of this nature. He will go to counseling and get rehabilitated as the legal system deems fit. He did not get away with it. He was penalized. No one goes to jail for snatching your phone back and shoving you off of them. He is not a career criminal and has never been convicted of assaulting anyone else. He is not a threat to society and should not be jailed. All the people with common sense understand that and that is why he was penalized the way he was.If he had been charged with a FELONY, this is a slap on the wrist.  This was not a felony though.  This is the punishment for the crime.

          • phonypope-av says:

“If he had learned any sort of lesson he would show some sort of remorse or even acknowledge that he assaulted someone.”You’re completely right, but at the same time it’s hard to blame him for not giving a statement acknowledging his guilt and/or remorse, that would absolutely be used against him in the civil case. Ideally he would own up to what he did, but that would be incredibly damaging in a practical legal sense.

          • saddogs-av says:

We get it you hate women

          • phonypope-av says:

“This is a woman who went out and got drunk after the fight then came home and took sleeping pills.”Meaning she did what a lot of people would have done after experiencing a traumatic event? What a bitch!

Nobody goes to jail over simple misdemeanor assault with no priors. That’s the point.

            What are you, his agent?

      • robertaloblaw-av says:

You are not wrong in stating that people do not usually get jail time for a first conviction for misdemeanor assault, or battery as it is referred to in some states… but you could not be more wrong about her not even being hurt just because she went out afterward. Domestic violence is a serious problem with long lasting consequences for victims.

Also… she hasn’t “won” anything. She doesn’t get paid for his criminal conviction. Who knows what will happen in the civil case.

Well, message to all other women: DON’T date this man. He’s a mess. Stay away from this piece of shit. If you are dumb enough to give this shithead the time of day, you probably think Gibson is giving away Les Pauls if you just answer a few questions.
