Jordan Peele's star-packed Twilight Zone reboot adds Steven Yeun to the charismatic pile

Aux Features TV

Jordan Peele continues to fail to fuck around when it comes to casting parts for his upcoming CBS All Access anthology series The Twilight Zone; Collider reports that Steven Yeun has now signed on to star in the title role of the series’ fourth episode, “The Traveler.”

Yeun is having a hell of a year; he co-starred in Burning, one of our favorite movies of 2018, plus Boots Riley’s fantastically strange Sorry To Bother You. (Also, he doesn’t have to be on The Walking Dead anymore, which we have to assume is something of a plus.)

Meanwhile, Peele’s casting on his series—which he’s also hosting, and which is expected to debut some time in 2019—has been borderline ridiculous. John Cho, Kumail Nanjiani, Allison Tolman, Adam Scott, Jacob Tremblay, and Sanaa Lathan have all already signed on for roles in the latest reboot of the Rod Serling classic, ensuring that whatever awful, ironic things Peele and his team cook up for the show’s protagonists, at least they’ll be happening to a whole bumper crop of people that we inevitably like.

I just saw him in The Burning and he really is smooth and charismatic. His guest appearance on Conan’s trip to a Korean spa was hilarious.

Peele’s casting on his series—which he’s also hosting, and which is expected to debut some time in 2019—has been borderline ridiculousWhich is the exact opposite of how Serling ever wanted to show, so what an awesome middle finger. Serling felt like TZ should be used as a boost for unknown actors to do some different work and showcase a little versatility in front of a large audience. Simply, he wanted to help young and unknown actors get off the ground.ensuring that whatever awful, ironic things Peele and his team cook up for the show’s protagonistsThey’re not cooking anything up. They’re basically just remaking the old episodes. Hooray for creativity!CBS has basically dug up Serling’s body and pissed all over it.

Somehow two of the five best movies I saw this year involve a Steve Yeun love triangle.

Let me guess, the twist is that Steven’s character appears to die and then is later revealed to still be alive?
