Netflix is really getting into visual things based on audible things, huh? We just had Paul Thomas Anderson and Thom Yorke’s ANIMA, and yesterday we reported that Sturgill Simpson and some of the people behind Batman Ninja are making an anime movie for later this year based on Simpson’s new album. Now, we can add Kid Cudi and Black-ish creator Kenya Barris to that list, with Deadline reporting that they’re working with How To Make It In America creator Ian Edelman on an “adult animated music series” for Netflix called Entergalactic that will be based on Cudi’s upcoming album of the same name.

Edelman will co-write the show with Cudi, with the Deadline story saying that the album is about “a young man on his journey to discover love.” The adult animated music series will presumably be about the same thing. On Twitter, Cudi said that the show will be available next year.

Is Cudi going to be rapping again?I miss the Cudi that rapped.“Passion, Pain, & Demon Slaying” was an okay step in the right direction, but “Indicud”, “Satellite Flight”, “Speeding Bullet …”, and even “WZRD” were rough.

Indicud is pretty damn good but yes, the others were bad. Single best Cudi song for me since MOTM II is reborn though, I’ve been waiting 8 years for that song. It’s a sign he might be trending in the right direction

did you check out Kids See Ghosts? there’s a fair bit of rapping Cudi on there, including some absolute fire on “4th Dimension”

“a young man on his journey to discover love”Jesus, musicians please. You can spare your fans the cringe of expository notes on the meaning of your music by just releasing it and having it sound good. You aren’t philosophers, you aren’t going to become a Nobel laureate as a result of your groundbreaking insights on fornicating or break UPS or whatever bullshit is going on in your personal life. Just make it sound good. No visual poems, no anime, none of this extra shit.
