Lea Michele moves on from Scream Queens, gets new TV gig

Aux Features TV

Lea Michele is leaving the Ryan Murphy universe. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she’s nabbed a job on the ABC comedy pilot about a rapper-turned-mayor from Hamilton’s Daveed Diggs. It’s unclear who Michele will be playing, but THR notes that “the part is being adjusted to specifically accommodate the actress.” So we assume that means the character can do a damn good Streisand impression and is extremely Type-A. Regardless, she’ll be opposite Brandon Micheal Hall, who has the lead role.

Michele has spent most of her time on television in Murphy projects, first on Glee as the driven Rachel Berry and then in Scream Queens as the psychotic Hester Ulrich. Though the horror series is currently hanging in renewal limbo, THR reports that it could be back, just without Michele.
