Lil Jon confirms Donald Trump called him “Uncle Tom” on the set of The Apprentice

Lil Jon has confirmed a Daily Beast story from earlier this week, in which staffers on NBC’s All-Star Celebrity Apprentice—speaking under conditions of anonymity—claimed that star Donald Trump had referred to the rapper as “Uncle Tom” after seeing him in an Uncle Sam costume for a task.

“One of the executive producers had to call him up directly to [plead with] him not to say it, and Trump was like, ‘No, that’s a saying, it’s Uncle Tom.’ There are several takes in the footage of the dailies that has him trying to figure out the difference between ‘Uncle Tom’ and Uncle Sam. He just couldn’t grasp that it was offensive… When [Trump] decides he wants to do something, that’s his way.”

Lil Jon confirmed the story on Twitter today, noting that, once he’d personally explained that the term was offensive in the show’s boardroom, Trump stopped using it. (He added, though, that “I also want to be clear that I don’t agree with many of the statements Mr. Trump has said during his current run for president.”)

By the way—given that nobody was sexually assaulted, and that Trump actually stopped his offensive behavior once the person he was offending asked him to, instead of just claiming he was being “entertaining”—this is what currently qualifies as a “feel-good story” about Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
