Nashville books Christina Aguilera for a multi-episode arc

Christina Aguilera has booked a multi-episode arc on Nashville. The vocal-run-happy diva will play the horribly-named Jade St. John, who TV Line describes as “a chart-topping pop princess who yearns to unleash her inner twang on a country record.” That’s a bit of a turn for at least one of the show’s recent storylines, which has focused on evil Edgehill Records president Jeff Fordham’s attempt to find a pop-friendly young crossover country star a la Taylor Swift. At 34, Aguilera isn’t exactly a spring chicken in the music industry, but given Kelly Clarkson’s recent go at country stardom, The Voice judge’s appearance could ring true.
