New Web video pushes coming from MTV, NBC, News Corp.

If you thought the battle to unseat "Gangsta Happy Feet" was nasty, prepare for something even tackier. This week, Variety's been following two efforts to challenge YouTube's supremacy in the Web video world. MTV is planning to pair IFilm with Spike TV to create a more "guy-centric" site with content from Spike TV. Two networks that never managed to work out a deal with YouTube, NBC and News Corp's Fox, are preparing to distribute their own and other networks' content, including full-length episodes of TV shows, across several sites including MySpace and Yahoo!.
