At long last, Obi-Wan Kenobi isn’t so far, far away. The new Star Wars series, featuring Ewan McGregor’s much-anticipated return to the titular role, arrives on Disney+ May 27 with the first two of its six episodes dropping at 3 a.m. ET. Directed by Deborah Chow, whose previous intergalactic credits include chapters three and seven of The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place after Revenge Of The Sith, which saw Obi-Wan’s protege Anakin (Hayden Christensen) turn to the Dark Sidebut before A New Hope, which had Obi-Wan fighting alongside Luke, Leia, Chewbacca, and Han up until his untimely death at Darth Vader’s (formerly Anakin’s) gloved hand.

Filling in what happened for Jedi Master Obi-Wan during this critical time in Star Wars history could mean cosmic shifts for the storytelling universe. So, of course, like a herd of Banthas champing at their bits, we’re dying to see what happens next—and can’t help but start theorizing. Here are 10 burning questions we have before watching Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Commander Cody in

Commander Cody was the clone who handed Obi-Wan his lightsaber moments before Order 66 forced him to turn on his Jedi friend. Could he and the other clones factor into Obi-Wan Kenobi’s plot? They’re all, of course, played by the great Temuera Morrison, and although that particular casting juice was already squeezed with his Mandalorian-era appearance as clone offspring Boba Fett, it’s not out of the question he could return to play any number of canonical Stormtroopers born of the late great Jango Fett. The same goes for Jimmy Smits as Alderaan politician Bail Organa, one of the only people in the galaxy keeping the secret of Luke and Obi-Wan’s survival. They’ve already booked McGregor, Hayden Christensen, and Joel Edgerton, so what’s to stop Disney from bringing back the whole prequels cast and making this series Star Wars: Episode 3.5? Heck, while they’re at it, why not get Rose Byrne back as Leia’s handmaiden Dormé! [Jack Smart]

This isnt Dr Who or the MCU. The 2nd battle isnt going to change anything in canon, it’ll fold to fit into the canon. Theyll do it in a way that it doesnt change anything.

NO JAR JAR BINKS IS NOT GETTING A F*CKING CAMEO, THATS THE MOST IDIOTIC THING SUGGESTED YET.

How will Vader and Obi-Wan’s second face-off change the Star Wars canon? This is the only one of the questions that I really care about at all. Vader’s lines in A New Hope seems pretty unambiguous to me: they haven’t seen each other in a long, long time, and when they last met Kenobi was Vader’s master. Even if they try to fudge things so that lines like “When I left you I was but the learner; now, I am the master.” refer to some battle in this series where Kenobi bests Vader, it won’t make a lick of sense and it’ll diminish their face-off on the Death Star.

      VADER
I’ve been waiting for you, Obi-Wan.
We meet again, at last. The circle
      is now complete.

      VADER
When I left you, I was but the
learner; now I am the master.

      BEN
Only a master of evil, Darth.

      VADER
Your powers are weak, old man.

      BEN
You can’t win, Darth. If you strike
me down, I shall become more powerful
than you can possibly imagine. It’s REALLY not that clear cut. There’s far more room in here for this new TV show than the retcons of the entire Prequel Trilogy.

The first two episodes of the Obi-Wan series were amazing! I did not expect to see what I saw and it was done so well! Must watch TV!

RE: “Are they going to explain why everyone on Tatooine wears Jedi garb?”

Don’t remember where I read this but I did read somewhere that Jedi garb is modelled on peasant garb, partially for humility and partially to blend in. So it’s not that Tattooine’s peasantry dress like Jedi… but that Jedi dress like them.

Holy Shit! Youtuber makes the Obi vs Darth fight even better with John Williams score from Revenge of the Sith. The scene is now more exciting and dramatic and it fits more in line with the journey these two characters have been on. It’s a shame they didn’t go down this route.
