Season three of Party Down gets a long-awaited release date and a new teaser
Adam Scott, Ken Marino, Jane Lynch, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen, and Megan Mullally all make their return
Aux News Party DownAre we having fun yet? The cast of Party Down is back to celebrate good times with a new teaser for the third season of the cult comedy. It’s been twelve years since the Starz comedy was canceled, but some things never change—including the mandated formal uniform for the group of cater waiters. The Starz series is set to make its official return on February 24, 2023.
The official logline for the revival reads: “Ten years later, most of the Party Down catering team have moved on, including actor/bartender Henry Pollard (Adam Scott of Severance, Parks & Recreation). After a surprise reunion, the gang find themselves once again stoically enduring the procession of random parties and oddball guests all over Los Angeles.” The new season will comprise six episodes.
Along with Scott, the third season will see the return of original cast members Ken Marino, Jane Lynch, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen, and Megan Mullally. The only one missing is the great Lizzy Caplan, whose working schedule could not accommodate the new season’s filming.
New cast additions include the immaculate Jennifer Garner, Tyrel Jackson Williams, and Zoë Chao. National treasure James Marsden is set to recur as a guest star. We also know that Abbott Elementary’s Quinta Brunson will appear somewhere along the season in a guest role.
Party Down’s original creators Rob Thomas, John Enbom, Dan Etheridge and Paul Rudd have all returned as executive producers, with Enbom serving as showrunner.
“Before the cast of Party Down became well-known television and movie actors and award winners, they were all wearing the same pink bowties as part of a less than competent team of Los Angeles cater-waiters while chasing their dreams of stardom on the Starz series,” said Christina Davis, president of original programming at Starz, back in 2021. “Fans have been waiting more than 10 years for this revival to happen and we’re thrilled to be in development with Rob, Paul, Dan and John at the helm.”

I refuse to look up how to watch Starz in the year 2022 but I’m excited for this to come out
WTF is Starz lol
That put a smile on my face.
It’s like they don’t want us to watch it.
Starz? Izzat like Crackle?
It’s its own entire App/service with a monthly fee, or a premium cable channel subscribed to thru your cable company, or it can be bought through the Amazon Prime Video interface. So essentially identical to HBO, but lesser.
Yes, typing ‘starz’ in a web browser is a huge chore. *eye roll*
You can add it to Amazon Prime.
This was me and Ash vs Evil Dead a while back.
I may not look forward to anything in 2023 more than this
I still don’t know how this will work. I think they should have just ignored the 10 years and picked up where they left off. But I’m looking forward to this.
party down might be my favorite show of all time so, while i wouldn’t say i’m looking forward to this or that i have high hopes, i will still probably be disappointed if it’s anything less than great.
How exciting that we’re getting both a Party Down and Community reunion next year, but I am definitely more concerned about the former pulling it off.
excitement, dread, they’re very similar feelings!
I mean, Party Down was pretty great, and I’ll be watching season 3 for sure. But for it to be your favorite show of all time you can only have watched, like, a total of six TV shows in your life. And for that I can only say that I envy you and the better life you must have than me.
Why yes, Henry, we ARE having fun!(I’m also glad I watched the trailer to check for “Are We Having Fun Yet?” before posting.)
Rewatching the first couple of seasons and it’s almost alarming how well Martin Starr’s angry nerd character has aged.
I can’t see him as anything but Gilfoyle now (first role I can remember seeing him in).
There’s definitely a straight line from Roman directly to Gilfoyle.
There’s a straight line from Bill Haverchuck to Roman to Guilfoyle.
Oh hell, forgot about that. Definitely.
Martin Starr steals every scene and I wish he was bigger now. Oh well, his character is a fine wine. My favorite episode is the Russian mafia event.
He’s even involved with the mafia again in Tulsa King!
Did Jane Lynch basically replace Megan Mullally’s character? Or vice versa? Can’t remember
Mullally was second season.
wtf is starz lol
thank you, was gonna be so disappointed if this comment didn’t make an appearance
It was a premium cable channel available by subscription (essentially identical to HBO and Showtime) that is now also available as an app, again, identical to HBO.
It’s an inside A/V Club joke. That’s why someone else made it too (I see you also explained it to them).
They’re hot balls of gas is space. Learn a book.
Don’t you mean “ballz”?
Nah, that’s stars. Starz are hawt bawlz of gaz in spaze.
Well, that was a delightful flashback to an AV Club of yore I had almost totally forgotten about about, thank you.
We need the wisdom of the Taco Bell Bell now more than ever.
Cookie Monster, ZODIAC MOTHERFUCKER, Rappin’ Jake Sisko, Aurora Boreanaz… there were giants in those days. And no Kinja. It was so damn beautiful.

BONG
Its a network that has 40 different spinoffs of Power.
Power AND Outlander. That’s it.
Good Kinja.
Now there’s a reference I’ve not heard in a long time. A long, long time.
Ugh. I knew this comment would appear and I knew it would make me think about what a wonderful place the AV Club used to be.
i liked this series but i don’t get starz so probably will pirate it somehow.
So say we all
I feel like this is gonna be one of those Clerks II/III type of things where you’re like “ok these characters were funny but it’s however many years and they’re still stuck in these deadend jobs? Depressing”
Still holding out hope that Lizzy Caplan shows up somehow
My fondest hope is that she got super famous and one of the catering events is a party she’s hosting at her mansion.
THAT is a fantastic story idea. Maybe in Season Four?
My fondest hope is that she got super famous and one of the catering events is a party she’s hosting at her mansion.
Oh, that’s such a great idea! And if Lizzy Caplan is actually just too busy, they could use the fact that it’s Casey’s house as just a nice tag line at the end. They could film that in half a day.
[Or – her husband’s house, which would explain why Adam Scott is there and she isn’t…. Oh, and the husband should be Steve Guttenberg….]
Why not? She showed up to the last reunion…
finally, someone noticed that we are NOT HAVING FUN YETmaybe this show can fix that?
Ok, so Jane is back, but no mention of JK Simmons??? It better be happening, especially since Lizzie couldn’t join.
I feel like JK Simmons shows up for half a day, nails everything on the first take, and heads home. It’s the only way he could be so prolific.
I feel like JK Simmons shows up for half a day, nails everything on the first take, and heads homeSo you’re saying he’s rushing, instead of dragging?
“So you’re saying he’s rushing, instead of dragging?”“Why not both?” — Lars
Bring back Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television, you cowards.
Personally I’m hoping we get a return of Patrick “Duffles” Duffy.
Even though YouTube TV constantly asks if i want a 7-day free trial to Starz, I was kind of shocked that this is going to be on Starz and that Starz is still a thing.
I’m looking forward to see the kinds of “LA parties” they’ll be catering. Those ridiculous parties are what made the show.
the implications inherent to Henry still being there/returning and No Casey is kinda making me prep to be depressed watching this XP
