Though we’d be content with Werner Herzog playing every character in Disney’s upcoming The Mandalorian, we’re more than happy to hear that Pedro Pascal is the first official human to join the cast of Jon Favreau’s bounty-hunting drama. Though you may best remember him as a heap of smashed tomato jam on Game Of Thrones, the man once known as the Red Viper has also starred in films like Kingsman: The Golden Circle and series such as Narcos and The Mentalist. He’s also slated to play a “key role” in Wonder Woman 1984.
Variety notes that Pascal will “lead” the series, so we’re assuming that means he’s playing the “lone gunfighter” mentioned in the story’s official synopsis. A killer lineup of directors, including Thor: Ragnarok’s Taika Waititi and Star Wars veteran Dave Filoni, will helm the series, which is said to take place after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order.
Like the recently announced Rogue One prequel series, The Mandalorian will debut next year on Disney’s in-development streaming service, which, as we’ve documented, will contain a galaxy’s worth of content.

His cells have the highest concentration of mandalorians I’ve ever seen in a life form.
What’s this I hear about mandible Orientals?
“George, step away from the word processor!”
More like Manda-BORE-ians.
I’m very into this casting choice.
Yeah, it’s fairly perfect. Pascal has that grizzled, sun-baked countenance you want from your jet pack and wrist-rocket Man with No Name show.
This is the kind of role that requires the right amount of Spanish-Chilean-Danish-American nuance.
inasmuch as one doesn’t automatically know if he’s going to be a hero, a villain or a nebulous anti-he— ….it’s that one, he’s gonna be a nebulous anti-hero isn’t he
He’s really getting aHEAD in his career. I hope he can FACE his fans, and not go SPLAT.
Now I want to see Boba Fett fight the Cryptkeeper.
The Cryptkeeper and I would both rather see Boba Fett fight the time machine in Back to the Future with Marty McFly inside. Mandalorian versus Manned DeLorean.
I’ll certainly have my EYES on him
Don’t you mean… Boba Nyet?You don’t? Oh, sorry. I didn’t mean to be presumptuous.
That’s very disappointing news for Costas Mandylor. I mean, when you name a show after a guy, the least you could do is to give him the lead role.
GREAT CASTING. HE WILL NAIL THIS:
… but is he a Satine loyalist, Klan Vizla or another faction?
Why is Iron Man’s main villain from the comics, getting his own Star Wars series? Disney crossover??
Wait till R2-D2 shows up in Avengers 6.
Amazing how they stopped casting only maoris as mandalorians the moment Disney wanted to have one as a lead
Since when were all Mandalorians the same? Or are you confusing them with the clones of Jango Fett?
I’m not taking a position on whether they should have cast a Maori, but unless canon changed again while I wasn’t looking, the Fetts are not Mandalorian. They just had a suit of the iconic Mandalorian battle armor. (Canon could have changed while I wasn’t looking. They’ve done it before.)
2 for 2 isn’t exactly a sample size.
There’s nothing is canon that says Mandalorian’s have to be Maori. I think you’re confusing the clones who came from Jango and regular Mandolorians.
I love the fact that we’re now getting Latin Han Solo in one series, and Latin Boba Fett in another. Really looking forward to Latin Princess Leia and the inevitable Latin R2-D2. ¡bleep bloop!
“Latin R2-D2″ makes me think of that Venture Brothers episode where the boys get Helper painted with flame decals and a “La Cucaracha” horn.
The twist of that episode is what made me fall in love with that show.
I’m hoping they still cast at least one polynesian actor in a major role in this.
