In an interview with UK radio station XFM, bassist Peter Hook has more or less confirmed that New Order is over. Hook was talking about his collaboration with Perry Farrell's Satellite Party when he said that Farrell had "asked me to play bass, as he'd heard about New Order splitting up. Well yeah, me and Bernard [Sumner] aren't working together." Though he acknowledged that the band has split before—with Sumner taking time off for his Electronic project with Johnny Marr, for example—Hook says, "That was different."
Congrats to Pitchfork (and myself) for getting through this without making any "Blue Friday" or "Dreams Never End (Except When They Do)" jokes.
