Ex-Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman isn't a stranger to tacky marketing ploys (witness the Sticky Fingers Cafe in 1989) or digging for treasure in fertile young ground (as evidenced by his icky romance with 13-year-old Mandy Smith), but few probably expected him to launch his own line of Bill Wyman Signature Metal Detectors. Nevertheless, the 70-year-old "history detective" is hoping to inspire others to catch the "treasure hunting bug" with his new, lightweight series of personally designed metal detectors, complete with an informational DVD and website.
