Comedian and actor Nick Offerman, best know for his role as the stoic and openly libertarian Ron Swanson on Parks And Recreation, will appear before the House Energy and Commerce Committee to urge Americans to get vaccinated for coronavirus, as per Politico. While Offerman has never been super clear on his own politics, he stands firm in that they do not align with his Swanson character and that he prioritizes “common decency.” In 2020, he joined other Parks and Rec cast members for a live Q&A to raise money for Wisconsin Democrats. In his statements on Wednesday, he will address Republican men in particular. We’re guessing he’s not going to go on a long rant about the health benefits of a meat-filled diet or spew conspiracies about a government microchip (but hey, who knows).
In a recent NPR/PBS/Marist poll, 49% of Republican men said they would not receive the COVID-19 vaccine, compared to 34% of Republican women and 6% of Democrat men. According to the CDC, 38 % of Americans are fully vaccinated, a far cry from the 80% that’s required to attain herd immunity. Some experts are beginning to question if herd immunity will be possible in the U.S. with current vaccination estimates. However, as more Americans receive the vaccine and mask mandates loosen, proof of vaccination required for things like travel and attending universities. It probably won’t be as easy as holding up a contract that states, “I can do what I want,” to get around these upcoming regulations.

As a Patriotic Conservative, I took it as my duty to get all the vaccinations, not for myself, but to ensure there are less for people and groups that I fear and hate!*bald eagle, playing electric guitar, flies over monster truck packed with fireworks*

We could only hope real-life Conservatives and Libertarians were half as obnoxious as Ron Swanson’s politics.You see, not every Republican is an antivaxxer, but rather see taking the shot as act of surrender, because they are admitting it is indeed a serious problem that was made infinitely worse by their incompetent Party leader, and it’s not fair that “illegitimate” Biden is supposedly taking the credit away from Orange Caligula. Then again, it’s not like these Confederate dickfarts don’t have experience with surrendering and never getting over it.

Some of them have been saying all of the credit for the vaccine should go to Trump for funding it or whatever. Why can’t they all just latch on to that? At least then they’d get to be an asshole and get the shot.
They claim Trump is the “Father of the Vaccine” they refuse to take. The cognitive dissonance is off the fucking charts.
They veered from “there is no virus” to “it’s basically a cold” to “Trump saved us all” in less than 12 months.

But what difference does it make, though? I’ve had a lot of people tell me we should be bothered by the adjective Democrat, but none of them have told me a compelling reason why I should care.
Conservatives and “Libertarians” (conservatives who need to feel extra special and unique) will not give a shit what Ron Swanson has to say unless it’s taken completely out of context and memefied. Besides, the real Ron Swanson would probably still be in a coma after single handedly fighting off several dozen Q-Anon freaks who were storming the Parks and Rec building on January 6th. “We love you Ron, we support you, we’re doing this for you!!!” one of them would shout while gouging Swanson’s eye out with an American flag, right before Swanson takes his head off with a saxophone.
