Rosie O'Donnell and Kelly Ripa battle over response to Clay Aiken's hand

Aux Features Newswire

With Michael Richards dominating the entertainment headlines, attention now turns to this week's poor man's "possibly prejudiced celebrity" controversy involving Rosie O'Donnell, Kelly Ripa, and Clay Aiken's gay germs. On a recent episode of The View, O'Donnell accused fellow morning show host Ripa of being homophobic because she flinched with Aiken attempted to cover her mouth with his hand. "I don't know where that hand has been," Ripa snapped. Ripa responded angrily to the charge in a phone call to The View, claiming she made the remark because it is "cold and flu season" and that Aiken had shaken the hands of the studio audience. She, in turn, accused Aiken (who hasn't commented publicly on his sexuality) of being "disrespectful" because he didn't say thank you for being a guest host.
