Riverdale lost a major character on its latest episode, but something wicked this way comes.

This summer, Riverdale and Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told Deadline that Sabrina wasn’t meant to be killed off for good on the show, but Netflix canceling the series made it seem like she was. And now Sabrina’s back from the dead, heading to Riverdale.

The Warner Bros. TV social media accounts confirmed the news, with a picture of Kiernan Shipka sitting in a chair that says “Sabrina Spellman Riverdale,” captioned, “looks like someone is making a road trip from Greendale to Riverdale…” Shipka also shared the news on her Instagram, writing, “from Greendale to Riverdale. See u in Season 6.” She also added a devil emoji.

Aguirre-Sacasa talked to Entertainment Weekly about the crossover, saying, “We’ve been talking about having Sabrina visit Riverdale since season 1, so it’s thrilling that this is finally happening, as part of our ‘Rivervale’ special event. It’s also perfect that she shows up to help Cheryl Blossom during her hour of greatest need. Everyone on set lost their minds—I think fans will, too. It’s really fun and special.”

Sabrina is set to meet Cheryl in the sixth season’s fourth episode, “The Witching Hour(s).” According to EW, in the episode, “Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) is performing a dangerous spell, one that may mean the difference between life and death for a beloved member of the Blossom family, according to a logline description of the episode. Luckily, she’s getting a much needed assist from everybody’s favorite 20-something witch, the iconic Sabrina Spellman (Shipka).”

It’s unclear how this all works, given how Riverdale jumped forward in time by seven years, but then again, does anything ever make sense on the CW show? Fans will find out how Sabrina figures into the Archie gang’s life soon. The sixth season premieres on November 16.

In other Sabrina news, Aguirre-Sacasa is writing a comic book series that follows the events occurring after Sabrina’s death on the Netflix show, called The Occult World of Sabrina.

Brewing up some magic with Cherry Buxom?

It’s easy enough to bring a character back from the dead, but resurrecting dead audience goodwill for that character is somewhat trickier.

That’s why it’s happening on the CW.The CW: “Eh, we know you’re mostly just hate-watching, and it’s reflected in our budget.”

I realize the time has passed, but I would have at some point liked to read the rest of Afterlife with Archie.

I’m still fascinated that Riverdale was burning witches in 1890. Truly an alternate history?

    • doobie1-av says:

Yeah, if you can have a witch burning phone tree, it sorta seems like that should have had other consequences for society.

At this point they should probably just ditch everything else about the show and make it about Cheryl and Sabrina and Toni, if she is into that

It’s unclear how this all works, given how Riverdale jumped forward in time by seven yearsIt’s worth noting that right after the time skip, Veronica was still saying to her husband, “It’s 2021, Chad. Haven’t you heard? Women can have it all now.” The degree to which the writers DNGAF is complete.

I am excited for this. I hope she sticks around for a few episodes at least and they start getting deep in magic and the supernatural in Riverdale. I think they should have leapt into the magic deep-end back in season 3 with the Gargoyle King.

Are you suggesting there won’t be magic in seven years?

https://mattthecatania.wordpress.com/2021/10/07/binging-banshee-ruined-riverdale/They’d better bring Nick Bakay back as Salem this time!
For the love of Madam Satan, please go all in on the crazy magic!
Unfortunately with this show’s track record, the Sabrina variant that
appears will most likely be a muggle.

I’m happy for Shipka to keep getting work, just hoping she moves off from Sabrina soon as that series ended up being a turd towards the end.

Am I allowed to say she’s hot, btw? (quickly Googles) Yes. Yes, I am. Man, to have those genes (and professional trainers and makeup assistants).

“20 something” means someone in their 20’s. Sabrina would be well within that range on Riverdale.

so is it only episode 4, I need my Kiernan Shipka / Sabrina Spellman fix and haven’t seen Riverdale. And I’m guessing this will probably already contradict her forthcoming resurrection in Occult Adventures of Sabrina anyway.

Dammit, was just congratulating myself last night for finally giving up on Riverdale and ignoring the back end of the last season. But now they’re bringing in Sabrina, and they’ve finally gotten rid of that one boring-ass dickhead character…*sigh* Stay strong, Officer Milk Carton.

  • gerky-av says:

But seriously, when are we getting the series order for the obvious Pussycats backdoor pilot that also happened to be the best and most fabulous episode that didn’t feature Cheryl being Queen of the Bees in a long, long time?
