As Succession’s decidedly dramaturgically sound series finale settles in, it appears even more congratulations are in star for Sarah Snook. The actor, who plays living, breathing parable Shiv Roy on the HBO series, has seemingly introduced her first child in an Instagram post where she also shared some heartfelt thoughts about her time on the show.

On Monday, Snook paired a lengthy caption celebrating Succession’s four-season run with a photo of her with the series finale ready to play on Max, holding a just-out-of-frame baby. Snook initially revealed she was expecting her first child with husband Dave Lawson at the Succession season 4 premiere in March.

Although Snook didn’t directly write anything in reference to the baby in her arms, the dots seemed to connect themselves. In a comment on the post, actor Phoebe Tonkin wrote: “Congratulations Sarah. (And a second congratulations on that little head too in frame too).”

In her caption, while trying to sum up the “crazy adventure of a show” Succession was, Snook ultimately decided that the series changed her life; and although Succession is ending, her life hasn’t stopped changing.

“I just watched the final episode of the final season of something that has changed my life. And now, my life has changed again,” Snook wrote. “Thank you for all the love and support.”

It’s hard to express what this show has meant to me. The places I got to go, the immense talent I got to work with…it breaks my heart that it is all over. But my heart had to be this full of all the memories, good times, challenges and triumphs, to be able to break at all…so that makes me grateful. To have been blessed to join this crazy adventure of a show will be a career highlight, which will no doubt be hard to top. I am so, so proud and humbled by everyone’s hard work season after season: we all set the bar high for each other, then exceeded it and excelled, in every department. The friendships, the scripts, the locations, the one liners, the early mornings, the last minute changes, all the highs and lows: I’m going to miss it all. The people of this show are a talented bunch, and I’m proud to have worked alongside them, it’s the people I will miss most of all.

I just watched the final episode of the final season of something that has changed my life. And now, my life has changed again. Thank you for all the love and support.

Next up for Snook: Marvel movies! Just give them one, though, Shiv.

She has already betrayed the baby six times since the birth. Jokes. Grats, lady!

In an unexpected twist, the child is already scheming behind her back.

In an even more unexpected plot twist (unless you’ve read the book), she’s given birth to a younger version of herself.

        • bcfred2-av says:

Yet the child will never live up to her standards.  Tragic, really.

I mean literally a younger version of herself from earlier in the timestream. It did end up with the younger version actually being more than a bit disappointed in their older self. Must have been all the mass murder even if it was for the greater good.

I like it. Start working up a draft.

It’s a full on film I bought off Youtube! I regret not seeing it at the cinema.

Did she get it from a hyena farm?

I was hoping someone would respond with an image from that film.

          Fuck off, baby.

y first thoughts… But isn’t this Predestination/All You Zombies by Robert Heinlein?

“a photo of her with the series finale ready to play on Max”

    *sigh*

The caption says “I just watched the final episode of the final season of something that has changed my life” and your takeaway is that she’s getting reading to watch it?

Like, for fuck’s sake, at LEAST give the absolute minimum effort.

Correction: The IG post is from Australia and you can see in the photo she was away to watch it on Binge – a streaming service owned by Rupert Murdoch which is somewhat apt given the subject manner

    • cura-te-ipsum-av says:

I remember from back in the Disqus days of the AV Club, someone in one of the comments sections for Orphan Black said something like Murdoch had a dungeon to keep the Anna Torv clones in and I said I hope not given she’s his niece.

She’s showing the back of her head so we can’t see the glowering hatred in her eyes at the image on the screen.

I’m curious as to why I have not yet read the phrase “cock a snook” in relation to this. Perhaps I have not been perusing the appropriate organ.

I dated her doppelganger in highschool. It takes a lot to make me long for those days even if her character was cold hearted 😭
