As has been well-documented by this site, we’re in the midst of a bit of a Western resurgence. This month, both The Revenant and The Hateful Eight expanded into theaters nationwide, while 2015 saw the release of quite a few notable entries in the genre, like Bone Tomahawk, Slow West, and The Salvation. Before the dust settles on the current Western bonanza, Fathom Events and TCM are riding into town this month with two special screenings of Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid. Starring Robert Redford and Paul Newman, George Roy Hill’s classic film has been a longstanding staple of the genre, which we once claimed “may as well have” invented the modern buddy comedy.
Whether you’ve seen it a dirty dozen times or never before, this special presentation is one that can’t be missed. As part of TCM’s Big Screen Classics series, Fathom will be showing Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid on Sunday, January 17 and Wednesday, January 20 at select theaters across the country and we’ve got an opportunity for you see it for free.
