Spend the night At Home With Amy Sedaris

Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Tuesday, October 24. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

At Home With Amy Sedaris (TruTV, 10:30 and 11 p.m.): It’s been 17 years since the end of Strangers With Candy (and 11 since the belated release of its belated big-screen follow-up), but co-creator and star Amy Sedaris has remained a TV fixture all the while: As Princess Carolyn, she’s a key member of the BoJack Horseman cast, and she’s channeled the grotesque, go-for-broke spirit of Jerri Blank in recurring roles on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and The Heart, She Holler. But her most important has been that of Amy Sedaris, celebrity personality: A top-notch talk-show guest and Martha Stewart to the stoner set, it’s the sort of persona that would’ve thrived in the cocktail-party atmosphere of ’70s TV. (Not for nothing has she been a panelist on ABC’s Match Game revival.)

Now, that persona is receiving the spotlight it deserves: At Home With Amy Sedaris, starring Sedaris as the pathologically sunny face of her own lifestyle program. Like HGTV as reimagined by Wonder Showzen (At Home comes to us from the production company responsible for Wonder Showzen, PFFR), the show finds Sedaris (in and out of character) playing host to guests like Stephen Colbert, Paul Giamatti, Jane Krakowski, and Peter Serafinowicz, offering honest-to-goodness homemaking tips along the way. Later today, Danette Chavez offers her take on those tips, while Gwen Ihnat’s interview with the At Home host explores the roots of her craft fascination.

Regular coverage

The Mindy Project (Hulu)
Mindhunter (Netflix)
The Flash (The CW, 8 p.m.)
DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow (The CW, 9 p.m.)
This Is Us (NBC, 9 p.m.)

Wild card

Snoop Dogg Presents The Joker’s Wild (TBS, 10 p.m.): The World Series is also starting tonight, but as enticing as that Dodgers-Astros match-up is, we couldn’t simply pass up an opportunity to put the new version of The Joker’s Wild in the “wild card” spot. Snoop Dogg fronts this, a different strain of TV revival, where knowledge is king, lady luck is queen, and Snoop wants you to win 25,000 in green.
