Miles Morales makes new friends and promises in the trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
Miles Morales and his crew of web-slinging friends return in June 2023 for Across the Spider-Verse
Aux News Spider-ManMiles Morales makes his glorious return in the full-length trailer for the forthcoming Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. The follow-up to 2018's Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is set to arrive in theaters next June.
The trailer starts with a heart-to-heart between Miles and his mother, as she makes him promise to take of the little boy inside the growing young man. We get to see Miles’ arc as a hero from the first film, before being thrown into what lies ahead.
This time around, Miles must dive deeper into the Spider-Verse, meeting many new iterations of the hero, as well as coming across a new threat, named The Spot (voiced by Jason Schwartzman). When all’s said and done, Across The Spider-Verse will introduce a staggering 240 new characters, per IndieWire. However, in meeting The Spot, we meet the villain for the next two films in the franchise.
“The Spot is an interesting villain because he seems like a joke, but when you really look at his powers, there’s incredible potential,” director Kemp Powers recently told TotalFilm. “His ability to open portals across dimensions sets him up perfectly for the Spider-Verse.”
“Let’s just say that the Spot and Miles are connected in surprising ways,” he added.
Shameik Moore returns to voice Miles, alongside Hailee Steinfeld as Stacy/Spider-Gwen, Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker, Luna Lauren Velez as Rio Morales, and Brian Tyree Henry as Jefferson Davis. Greta Lee and Oscar Issac have also returned for the sequel.
New additions to Across the Spider-Verse include Issa Rae as Jessica Drew a.k.a. Spider-Woman, Oscar Isaac as Miguel O’Hara a.k.a. Spider-Man 2099 and Daniel Kaluuya as Hobart Brown a.k.a. Spider-Punk. Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, Shea Whigham, and Rachel Dratch round out the voice cast.
Powers, Joaquim Dos Santos, and Justin K. Thompson directed Across The Spider-Verse based on the screenplay by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and David Callaham.
Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse arrives in theaters on June 2, 2023.

The only bad thing is we have to wait six months for it.
I’m concerned they might be trying to do too much in this movie buuuut I’m still more excited about this than I’ve been about any other superhero movie in the past 3 years.
Movie is already said to be a two parter so that should alleviate any overstuffedness… hopefully
The first one was such a glorious surprise (to me). One my favorite films that year, and I was so glad it won its Oscar. (It should’ve been in the running for Best Picture, period, but it’s pretty satisfying when the Academy gets part of it right, anyway.) — and the performances were all terrific. What’s up, Danger?
I hope this one is as good. I was still recommending the first one to my family when I visited last year, trying in vain to get them to watch “a cartoon”…
The raw emotion of his leap of faith, that glorious “upward” motion. So good to see it in this trailer again.
This trailer is a little underwhelming, honestly. I guess maybe they can’t reveal too much without giving away large pieces of the plot, but it’s still like a full minute of scenes from the first movie. I guess there’s a lot of easter eggs if you know comics and want to squint at all the various spiderpeeps, but there’s just not a lot going on otherwise.Still jazzed to see it though.
Yeah, a bit too much footage from the first film in there.
Not a lot of action, but now I know not to take my wife to see it because Miles’ mom talking to him about growing up and taking care of that little boy she remembers is going to turn on the waterfall…
That’s hawt.
kind of felt like those telltale walking dead games.
I hope the Spider-Man that is just a bunch of spiders in a Spider-Man suit shows up.
I’d forgotten about Spiders-Man, but yeah that would be cool. Imagine their voice.
they can bring in bride of nine spiders from the iron fist comics (no, not the version from the netflix series)
Rachel Dratch is mentioned multiple times in the “new additions” cast list
Soooo…Is no one going to mention that Gwen and Miles can hold onto things…with their butts?

This site doesn’t have editors anymore.
Anymore?
“This site doesn’t have editors anymore.”
Or writers.
VolunterProofreader is an AV Club editor from an alternate dimension where a shitty corporation didn’t scrap the website for parts.
Wait a minute: Miles’ dad is named after the president of the Confederacy?
Yes, and in the comics, he’s now changed his name to Morales.
Brian Michael Bendis isn’t a great writer.
yeah that leapt out at me too, i’m mildly curious how Bendis came up with that.. on 2nd thought never mind i don’t think i really want to know
So Oscar Isaac is returning for the sequel but also a new addition. Which, I guess technically both things are kinda true, since he was only in a stinger in the first one. But man, that’s confusingly written.
“Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, Shea Whigham, and Rachel Dratch round out the voice cast.”Is this gonna be like a 30 Rock situation where Rachel Dratch plays multiple characters?
Welcome to the DratchVerse.
its dratches all the way down
2 Verse 2 Dratch
I don’t understand this reference. Is it from Yellowstone?
I’m seeing double… FOUR Krustys!
Someone must like Rachel Dratch.
also “

Clearly they’re talking about two different people, as Issac is returning but Isaac is a new addition to the cast.
I guess it’s the Moon Knight effect. Oscar can’t play just one role anymore.
Are we talking the same Rachels Dratch, or from different multiverses?
It’s a Dratch-22.
I’m very confused by Miles and Gwen sitting upside-down like that. They have spiderpowers in their butt?
Many spiders do!
Dr. Strange and America Chavez already answered this question but only for one universe.
That is assuming many people remember Blurrtiverse of Blandness
In my experience reading comics, Spider-people stick to stuff however a writer finds most convenient at the time and/or however good/cool the artist thinks it would look. So it makes sense that they’d do it for a cool image.
No Italian Spider-Man, no sale.
Shut your mouth pussycat, e fammi un macchiato, pronto!
Japanese Spiderman! Indian Spiderman!
I really liked the first one except for the animation style. It felt like somebody forgot to give me my 3D glasses.
“When all’s said and done, Across The Spider-Verse will introduce a staggering 240 new characters, per IndieWire.”
Yeah….no.
I hear there is an alternate dramatic story arc involving one of the many Spider-People.
Great movie for 12 year olds! What’s that? A bunch of adult losers are excited for this? Yikes

And I will crush that Spider-Man.And then that other Spider-Man.And all the Spider-MenTil I’m… the Spider-Man!
So, I guess in the last few years the former Lauren Velez has in recent years changed her stage name to Luna Lauren Velez to match her birth name, to someday I guess become Luna Velez? Her IMDB really needs some cleaning up on that issue.
It’s kind of late in the career to be doing the John Cougar Mellencamp thing. Hope the name change doesn’t cause her to lose opportunities from people who don’t realize she changed it.
“It’s kind of late in the career to be doing the John Cougar Mellencamp thing. Hope the name change doesn’t cause her to lose opportunities from people who don’t realize she changed it.”
Yeah, if she’s not careful she’s only going to be able to do Spider-Man movies.
No Nic Cage??? Man he was such a highlight of the 1st movie. oh well i’m confident this will still be pretty great
