Now that Madame Web is here, which Spider-Man universe heroes and villains should be next in line to get the film treatment?

This month, Madame Web arrives in theaters, giving the Sony Pictures Spider-Man-adjacent fictional universe yet another crew of characters to add to a growing arsenal that includes Venom, Morbius, and the upcoming debut of Kraven the Hunter. It’s no secret that Sony has been interested in building these characters out into movies for quite some time now, and Madame Web proves that the movie studio is interested in slightly more obscure characters as well as megastars like Venom. With that in mind, we’ve got some ideas when it comes to the characters they should tap next. Setting aside the upcoming films we already know about, here are 15 characters (or teams of characters) ready to lead their own live-action Spider-Man spinoff adventure.

Here’s another really tricky one you’d have to lay a lot of groundwork to pull off. Superior Spider-Man is Peter Parker … or at least, his body is Peter Parker’s. Once upon a time, Peter seemingly died, and Otto Octavius, aka Doctor Octopus, took over the young Spider-Man’s body in order to save his own consciousness. Having achieved this, he set out to become a more ruthless, more efficient, altogether better version of Spider-Man, hence the name. Again, laying the groundwork for this, not to mention getting Tom Holland or Andrew Garfield to play an entirely different character, would be difficult to do. But if you could pull it off, the payoff would be extraordinary.

Black Cat has had some great solo stuff, so you wouldn’t even need to involve Spider-Man at all to have a good movie. Actually. . . where does she stand with the movie rights? Is she considered a strictly Spidey character, or is it like a Wanda & Pietro situation where Disney could cut Sony out if they just never mention Felicia knowing any Spider-people? The MCU is still so Iron Man focused, I could see them trying to do an Iron Cat movie.  Not that I’d want them to start with that as her first solo appearance, but it might be possible.

I think Black Cat’s biggest problem if she has her own movie is that it’s hard to make her not look like a Catwoman rip-off.

Bryce Dallas Howard played Gwen, not Felicia.

Could you imagine Holland getting paid to be both his Peter and a more cocksure bleach-blond Ben? Lol.

Just because Silver Sable’s film got cancelled….she’s still the obvious omission from this list. Symkaria’s economy being driven by a superhero mercenary group is a concept so comic-book-y that it should be explored.

Still no love for Turner D. Century? His day is long overdue.

Black Cat or Jessica Drew, sure.  The rest?  Meh

I’ve long wanted someone at Sony to take a swing at Slingers. Short-lived 90’s team comic, 4 distinct personalities with different power sets, only tangentially related to Spider-Man. Leader Prodigy is dangerously serious about it and is strong, cool guy Ricochet has enhanced agility and throws projectiles, nice guy Hornet has a palsied arm and a lot of conflict about his powered suit, and goth girl Dusk dies during training only to come back with teleporting cloak powers. Brought together by a golden age character who is both causing and sending them on their missions because he’s trying to relive his glory days and made a Faustian bargain to get the team their suits and powers, and they have to save his soul in the big finale. I think it’s a hit.

A Madame Web movie shows how Sony is scraping the bottom of the Spidey barrel. This flick will bomb badly.

Just give me a Spider-Noir movie or a big dumb Spider-Ham kids movie.

The Tarantula/Rand Corporation storyline would be pretty fun, and would enable inclusion of Will O’ The Wisp!

I see one character, maybe two tops, who could sustain an entire movie. All the rest could not headline anything good or otherwise box office-worthy. They’re all supporting characters at best, and that is charitable for several.
