Stoker

Aux News Coming Distractions

Last glimpsed preparing to urinate all over Zac Efron, Nicole Kidman is up to far less farcical yet no less inappropriate behavior in the trailer for Stoker, in which she plays a hissing ice queen of a mother who "can't wait" to see daughter Mia Wasikowska experience all the pain and horror life has to offer. It doesn't look as though she'll have to wait long: Shortly after the death of her father, Wasikowska is introduced to her mysterious uncle (Matthew Goode), who begins working his sinister wiles first on Kidman and then on her, with various random acts of gruesomeness befalling the people unfortunate enough to cross paths or lob shitty puns at their incestuous, spooky clan. The film was scripted by Prison Break star Wentworth Miller and represents the English-language debut of Oldboy director Park Chan-wook, and it definitely bears the latter's hallmarks of quick, brutal violence and uncomfortable familial relations. And while Miller himself has acknowledged its obvious debt to Hitchcock's Shadow Of A Doubt, something tells us it gets a whole lot crazier than that.
