SZA says she may have permanent vocal chord damage

The past year has been absolutely huge for SZA, with the highly anticipated release of her new album Ctrl, her appearance on SNL, her work on the Black Panther soundtrack, a cameo in the “This Is America” video, and a few Grammy nominations, but things have recently taken a more tragic turn for the singer. As reported from Vulture, she had to step away from the big TDE tour for an “indefinite number” of dates because her vocal chords were swollen and she didn’t want to risk permanent damage to them, but now it seems like that might have happened anyway. In a series of tweets that she has since deleted, SZA said that her voice is “permanently injured” and suggested that a medical exam didn’t go well by noting “tonight was the test. That settles that.” She also said that she wanted to “be left alone” and that her “priorities are fucked up.”

SZA has not tweeted anything else since the posts were deleted.
