It's a great time to be a fan of Orphan Black and She-Hulk: Attorney At Law star Tatiana Maslany

Disney+’s She-Hulk: Attorney At Law hasn’t even premiered yet (it will on August 17), but, thankfully for us, star Tatiana Maslany is already the face of a brand new project. During the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour, AMC announced that Maslany will star in and executive produce the psychological thriller, Invitation To A Bonfire.

Based on Adrienne Celt’s 2018 novel of the same name, the 1930s-set show takes place at an all-girls boarding school in upper-crust New Jersey. She plays Vera Orlov, wife to the school’s new faculty member, Leo (Game Of Thrones’ Pilou Asbæk). Leo is also an enigmatic novelist who manages to charm the school’s Russian immigrant groundskeeper, Zoya Andropova (Skins’ Freya Mavor). It creates a dangerous love triangle because Zoya becomes obsessed with the married couple. The cast also includes Deuce’s Ngozi Anyanwu as the ambitious Hilda, who leaves behind her affluent family and starts a new life in the school’s kitchen.

Invitation To A Bonfire marks Maslany’s return to AMC Networks after her hit sci-fi drama, Orphan Black, which ran for five seasons and (finally) won her the Emmy for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series in 2016. Her credits include HBO’s Perry Mason, Paramount+’s animated comedy The Harper House, and Disney+’s upcoming She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.

AMC has given a straight-to-series order for Invitation To A Bonfire. The six-episode first season will debut in 2023.

Her Emmy was 2016??? It seems like just yesterday we were talking about it here on Disqus … oh wait.I am *not* a fan about how fast time is screaming past!

Maslany should be in everything- sitcoms, Netflix 6 episode mini-series, true crime documentaries- and whatever she can’t do they should give to Rhea Seahorn. Or maybe they could just trade spots? Since Maslany gets Marvel, Rhea could get DC. One could do Netflix series’ and the other one Hulu. One would get a role on a GoT spinoff and the other the LoTR spinoff

I just rewatched Orphan Black, and was even more impressed with Maslaney. I don’t follow awards shows too awful much; still, the fact that she didn’t win an Emmy for every season is kind of a surprise. But she’s not just good in showy, clone-y parts. She was delightful as Tom’s doctor girlfriend on Parks & Rec. I’ve seen her in a few other things, and judging by the trailers for She-Hulk it looks like she’ll be great. So, basically, yeah, cast her in everything.

I’m actually looking forward to She-Hulk a bit more, she can obviously do drama/thriller but Orphan Black had a ton of comedy in it too it’ll be neat to watch her go for it like 90% of the time as opposed to 50/50 spilt the comedy had on Orphan Black.

Orphan Black was on BBC America. The spin off series, without Tatiana, will be on AMC.

Adrienne Celt is playing Vera Orlov?
