Teeth director casts Jena Malone as a repressed Victorian in Angelica trailer

Film Features Film

Having made a name for himself with the horror cult classic Teeth, director Mitchell Lichtenstein is back with another psychosexual horror flick—although this one involves far more historical costuming, and far fewer vagina dentate. Angelica stars Jena Malone as a happily married Victorian woman forced into a life of abstinence by a puritanical doctor. After she becomes a “closed garden,” sinister supernatural forces begin to haunt her and her daughter Angelica. Based on a novel by Arthur Phillips, the film looks equal parts terrifying and beautiful, thanks to cinematography by the one and only Dick Pope. Angelica is set to premiere in early February at the Berlin International Film Festival.
