Things definitely aren’t going well for mankind in this new War For The Planet Of The Apes trailer, but for a few moments it actually looks like our team has a shot at winning this thing. Woody Harrelson is leading a dedicated team of soldiers that includes a gorilla, he manages to get Andy Serkis’ Caesar in chains, and his dramatic speeches even rival the apes’ dramatic speeches. Sadly, we all know this is eventually going to lead to a trashed Statue Of Liberty, enslaved humans who can’t speak for some reason, and a very good musical adaptation, but the Planet Of The Apes brand has never shied away from complicated timeline shenanigans and weird twists. Who knows, maybe Woody Harrelson will actually succeed in wiping out those damn, dirty apes this time and humanity will be saved.
War For The Planet Of The Apes was directed by Matt Reeves, and it will be in theaters on July 14.
