Blockbuster season is right around the corner, which means that blockbuster trailer season is now. While this week was significantly lighter than previous ones in terms of new looks, new summer movies like Haunted Mansion and Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning Part One gave us new looks. Of course, the breakout show of last summer, The Bear, will be back this summer, and we got the first real look at that season this week. Check out everything else that is on our radar after this week.

THEATER CAMP | Official Trailer | Searchlight Pictures

Two decades after Camp introduced the world to Anna Kendrick, a weary nation is ready for a new movie about a performing arts camp. Theater Camp features Ben Platt, Noah Galvin, Molly Gordon, and The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri among its adult cast, along with a whole cabal of young, dramatically gifted children. To this writer’s pleasant surprise, this looks… pretty good? (Hey, sitting through Dear Evan Hansen is enough to turn anyone off from musicals.) Theater Camp opens wide on July 14. [Drew Gillis]

Didn’t it come out that the Five Nights at Freddy’s guy is a homophobic ultra conservative and a Covid denier?

    • learn-2-fly-av says:

Yes, and he is quite vocal about it. Not even a secret thing.

Yep. Once it came out that he supported and donated to pro-life, Republicans and Trump, and even gave money to Tulsi Gabbard after she became a far-right crank, he sort of cancelled himself by resigning and retiring from the franchise and from public view in general. He made a bunch of pro- life, anti-abortion, fundamentalist Christian games before Five Nights and that should’ve been the red flag, but I guess people overlooked that part of his past.

He also claimed he was still able to be an LGBTQIA+ ally despite giving a lot of money to homophobic politicians…somehow. It sucks, because right up until that point, I’d been rooting for Scott. Self-taught artist who started off really bad at 3D modeling but became significantly better, indie developer, film animatronics by Jim Henson Studios— and then he reveals himself to be an absolute scumbag.

Speaking of LGBTQIA+ rights, though, I think the film I’m actually most excited for this summer is Nimona, which I don’t think this site has posted the teaser for yet:
Actually just grabbed the original graphic novel, too. Big fan of N.D. Stevenson’s work on Lumberjanes and always meant to read his first work anyways, so felt like a good enough time to finally do it.
