The campy classic 1960s Batman TV series is finally getting a DVD release. After Conan O'Brien tweeted the news yesterday, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment confirmed that all 120 episodes would be available in a complete box set later this year. Details on pricing or extras have not yet been released. The Batman series, which ran from 1966 to 1968, starred Adam West in the title role, with Burt Ward as Robin. Its list of legendary villains included Burgess Meredith as the Penguin, Frank Gorshin as the Riddler, both Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt as Catwoman, Vincent Price as Egghead, and Cesar Romero as the Joker. Later episodes also featured Yvonne Craig as Batgirl, along with her kicky motorcycle. Obviously, the 1960s version was far less tortured than Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight: This was the fun, chatty Batman who used Bat Shark Repellant and Bat Spot-Analyzer, and whose favorite phrases included “Precisely, Robin!” and “To the batcave!”
