The Hunger Games is coming to the stage in 2016

For fans of The Hunger Games who just can’t get close enough to the action of teenagers killing each other, a stage production based on the franchise will launch in the summer of 2016. Comingsoon.net reports that Lionsgate is teaming with Dutch media company Imagine Nation and U.S.-based Triangular Entertainment to produce the show, which will use “innovative and immersive staging techniques” to convince more people to like Peeta as well as present a massive arena where tributes fight to the death.

The Hunger Games stage show will be co-produced by award-winning Broadway producer Robin de Levita, whose hit Dutch musical Soldier Of Orange puts the audience in a 360-degree rotating theater and spins them from set to set. “The theater is a fantastic medium to bring the many meaningful layers of Suzanne Collins’ writing to life,” de Levita says. Maybe, by “layers,” he means that the audience itself will act as the violence-craving Capitol citizenry, or that there won’t be any real actors in the stage show and everyone who buys a ticket will be entered into an onstage Reaping. Whatever happens, immersion is the name of the game, folks—may the odds be ever in your favor.
