The Last Exorcism was not, in fact, the last exorcism (unless by "last" you mean "the most recent")

Aux Features Film

Despite the promising that it was finally intent on quitting exorcisms for real this time, with just this one more to get it over the hump, The Hollywood Reporter says that Daniel Stamm’s “found footage” thriller The Last Exorcism will, in fact, get a sequel. Of course, it’s not surprising considering that the very modestly priced film turned out to be a relatively huge hit, raking in $62.5 million for its $1.6 million budget—and after all, it was called the Last Exorcism, not the Final Exorcism, so get off its back. The script is now in the hands of up-and-coming, 25-year-old writer-director Damien Chazelle, who will be in charge of figuring out an excuse to have one more exorcism, or maybe just accepting that it’s okay to have exorcisms in moderation every once in a while, like when you’re out with friends or you’ve had a particularly stressful day.
