The Office now considering replacing Steve Carell with Harvey Keitel. Yes, seriously.

Aux Features TV

Whether it’s yet another sleight-of-hand misdirection or an idea so crazy it just might confuse the hell out of everyone and prove to be a tone-killing trainwreck sort of work, The Office’s Paul Lieberstein tells E! that his No. 1 draft choice for replacing Steve Carell is none other than Harvey Keitel. “He's probably the only guy who can do it, and he's doing TV now,” Lieberstein is quoted as saying, adding that Keitel would bring “a very different energy.” (No argument there.) Lieberstein, clearly a big fan of Monkey Trouble, believes Keitel possesses mostly untapped comedic potential, saying, “He's a real tough guy, but I saw him in Life On Mars and I saw a lot more comedy in his work, just little slivers of it, little things he would do that made me think he's capable of a lot more than what [he's done].” He’s even gone so far as to plot out Keitel's character: “He's an old salesman who thought he could retire and the stock market went down, and he has to come out of retirement to work for a few years." Of course, there’s the little matter of actually talking to Keitel first, so in the meantime file this under "Rumors That Exist Solely As An Excuse To Make Jokes About Harvey Keitel's Penis."
