Wendell Pierce—who currently stars on CBS’s The Odd Couple, but who will always be The Wire’s Bunk Moreland in our hearts—has joined the cast of Amazon’s Tom Clancy series Jack Ryan. According to Deadline, Pierce will play James Greer, the CIA boss of Clancy’s analyst-turned-action hero, Jack Ryan, who’ll be played by The Office’s John Krasinski. Pierce joins a cast that includes Abbie Cornish as Ryan’s love interest (and later wife), Dr. Cathy Mueller. Given the stresses of management, the dangers of working for the C.I.A., and the fact that it’s on Amazon, the role will presumably call on Pierce to use the word “fuck” at least once at some point, thus allowing us to post this scene from The Wire in the middle of this article:
Also joining the cast: Lone Survivor’s Ali Suliman and Dina Shihabi, playing “a charismatic Islamic activist whose life has taken a wrong turn,” and his wife, respectively.
