Today's trailer happy hour: Frankenstein, Kevin James, other monsters

Welcome back to Trailer Happy Hour, where all the day’s trailers gradually accrete like an audio-visual sargassum, the better to take in as many promos and teasers as possible in one simple, safe place. Today, we’ve got a new Netflix special from the funny Blart man, a monstrous biopic about a feminist literary icon, and a very different sort of Timothée Chalamet coming-of-age story, so let’s dive right in.

First up: IFC’s Mary Shelley, which stars Elle Fanning as the famous author, who quickly learns that there are much shittier monsters in this world than a straightforward reanimated corpse. Opening in theaters on May 25, the film co-stars Douglas Booth as Mary’s apparent drunken shitheel of a husband, famed poet Percy Bysshe Shelley.

Next up: Timothée Chalamet’s Hot Summer Nights, which starts in a place that might be familiar to fans of Call Me By Your Name—albeit, with a much more Americanized, heterosexual spin—and then swerves mightily into a world of debauched drug dealing and get-rich-quick schemes. Produced by A24, and co-starring Maika Monroe, the film is due out on July 27.

Finally, Netflix is playing host to the stand-up return of Kevin Can Wait star Kevin James. Free from the burden of pretending to be sad about his fake dead wife, James looks to be returning to familiar material for Never Don’t Give Up, which debuts on Netflix on April 24.
