Today's Trailer Happy Hour has Chris Pine solving an old Hollywood mystery for Patty Jenkins

It’s almost America’s birthday, and while celebrating this nightmare of a nation may seem particularly unwarranted these days, there’s no reason you can’t protest racist policies and drink a case of cool and refreshing movie trailers. Luckily, this is Trailer Happy Hour, the place where the trailers live, and today we’ve got a TNT drama from Patty Jenkins and Wonder Woman’s Chris Pine, a documentary about a Chicago high school, an email love story, and Gillian Anderson in a movie about aliens.

I Am The Night is executive produced by Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, and it stars Wonder Woman’s Chris Pine as a journalist investigating a young girl’s connection to some dark Hollywood secrets. It has no connection to Batman, despite the name, but it may have something to do with the Black Dahlia. The limited series will premiere on TNT in January.

There’s no documentary subject quite like misunderstood young people, since the revelation that kids have real struggles and real passions is meaningful no matter how many times its made, and director Steve James’ America To Me throws in another twist by showing how students at a Chicago high school deal with racial issues. It looks like it’ll be eye-opening and heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once, and it’ll premiere on Starz on August 26.

Love is a wacky thing, and you never know when the washed-up rockstar that your boyfriend is obsessed with will drift into your life and fall in love with you over email. That all-too-relatable story is at the center of Juliet, Naked, a movie with a frustrating comma in its name that stars Rose Byrne, Ethan Hawke, and Chris O’Dowd. It’s based on the book by Nick Hornby, and it’ll be in theaters on August 17.

Finally, we have a movie where there’s a big government conspiracy to cover up an unidentified flying object, and Gillian Anderson plays a woman who recommends waiting a bit before we all jump to conclusions about there being aliens. The movie is called UFO, and it seems like Anderson has a relatively small part (Alex Sharp and Ella Purnell) but director Ryan Eslinger has to know that she’s the headliner in a movie like this. The film will be available on DVD and digital on September 4.
