Trailer for YouTube's Karate Kid sequel Cobra Kai sweeps the leg of nostalgia 

The rivalry between Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso from Karate Kid isn’t quite as legendary as some other great cinematic feuds, like Rocky and Apollo Creed or Batman and the Joker, but this teaser for YouTube Red’s Cobra Kai really wants you to think it is. That’s understandable, since the whole thing is banking on nostalgia for old Karate Kid movies, but Johnny and Daniel staring each other down in a resurrected Cobra Kai dojo doesn’t have the supremely badass impact it probably should. Maybe that’s because of the weird editing, which makes it look like Daniel takes an intimidating step toward Johnny after dropping his tough-guy line, or maybe it’s the fact that How I Met Your Mother already had a showdown between Ralph Macchio and Billy Zabka back in 2013.

Whether this teaser is getting you hyped for the eventual karate battle between these two or not, Cobra Kai will premiere on YouTube Red later this year.
