USA picks up Josh Duhamel-starring Biggie Smalls/Tupac Shakur true crime series

Famous, real-life murders are like catnip to TV networks these days, especially if the victims of those murders happened to famous people, and there are only a handful of murders—or murder victims—more famous than Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur. The USA Network jumped on a chance to develop a true crime series based on the Biggie/Tupac murders back in November, and now Variety is reporting that USA has given the show a full series order.

Titled Unsolved, the show will premiere early next year and follow the story of “two major police investigations” as they try to piece together the details of Smalls’ and Shakur’s murders. The show is based on “the experiences” of an LAPD detective named Greg Kading, who led multiple task forces dedicated to investigating the murders. Kading will be played by Josh Duhamel, with Jimmi Simpson and Bokeem Woodbine playing detectives Russell Poole and Daryn Dupree.
