Everyone’s favorite alien symbiote is back, and this time… he took that personally. Yes, get ready for a lot more tortured jokes like that, because Sony has announced that the third Venom movie will be called Venom: The Last Dance—which happens to be the same name as a 2020 documentary series about the Chicago Bulls that gave us several iconic Michael Jordan memes. Does that mean Venom and Eddie will team up with Scottie Pippen in the new one? Will they all win their sixth championship together against the villainous Utah Jazz?

We’ll stop there, not because we’ve run out of things we know about the Bulls but because we’re here to talk about Venom: The Last Dance. Variety says the movie is based on a story from Venom himself, Tom Hardy, plus screenwriter Kelly Marcel—who will also be making her feature directorial debut on The Last Dance. We don’t know anything about the plot, beyond our assumption that Venom will be teaming up with a superhero called “The Worm” (that’s another Bulls reference), but we do know that the movie will feature Juno Temple, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Clark Backo in addition to Hardy.

We don’t know who any of them are playing, but the previous two movies kind of ran through a lot of the more notable members of Venom’s supporting cast (including Carnage, who was played by Woody Harrelson and died in the previous movie), so Hardy and Marcel might be up to something interesting with this one. That being said, it’s also worth noting that The Last Dance will almost certainly not feature any payoff to the second movie’s post-credits tie-in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, since Spider-Man: No Way Home waved that away with a post-credits gag of its own.

Despite being initially set to come out on November 8, 2024, Sony also announced that Venom: The Last Dance has moved up to October 25—which is slightly sooner! Aaand now, YOUR lethal protector… from the planet Klyntar… Venom!
