This was a pretty huge week for casting news. Glenn Close and Henry Winkler are working on a comedy together, Zach Cregger’s Weapons added Alden Ehrenreich, Benedict Wong, and more to its already stacked cast, and Missy Elliott joined Pharrell Williams’ still-untitled coming-of-age musical. Beyond that, films continue to vie for buyers out of the Cannes market later this month.

Yul Vazquez (Severance) has joined Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera in The Last Bus, according to . Based on Lizzie Johnson’s novel Paradise: One Town’s Struggle To Survive An American Wildfire, the film “is set during the disastrous 2018 Camp Fire that became the deadliest fire in California history.” It follows a school teacher and a bus driver helping to navigate a group of schoolchildren through a destructive natural disaster. Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Ultimatum) will direct with a script from Brad Ingelsby. [Mary Kate Carr]
