The cold open flashback that begins this week’s Better Call Saul episode, “Inflatable,” offers insight into the origins of Slippin’ Jimmy, but the particular nature of that insight was up for debate in the comments on Donna Bowman’s TV Club review. Gus and John kick off today’s discussion with opposing views on the topic from commenters J.P. McPickleshitter and tja68. Then, shifting focus to the main storyline, John looks at Jimmy’s colorful montage as an echo of and contrast to Kim’s musical moment from two weeks ago.

Also, JRVilla notes that the vague revelation of Kim’s hometown, perhaps near Jimmy’s post-Breaking Bad hiding place in Nebraska, might not be a coincidence. And beema makes sure that Mike’s storyline doesn’t get left out of the conversation, noting some ominous shot-making by the episode’s director.
