The biggies

Better Call Saul (AMC, Monday, 9 p.m., series finale)

Official Season 6 Trailer | Better Call Saul

After six tremendous seasons (and a Breaking Bad run, of course), Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) is finally bidding adieu. We’ll find out how his story ends—miserably, let’s assume—in the Better Call Saul series finale. Hopefully, the episode also checks in one last time with Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn) and how things turned out for her in Florida after the most recent trip to Albuquerque. The A.V. Club will recap the hour and run a roundtable breakdown of the finale.

She-Hulk: Attorney At Law (Disney+, Thursday, 3:01 a.m.)

Official Trailer | She-Hulk: Attorney at Law | Disney+

We’ll say goodbye to one TV lawyer only to make room for another. Disney+’s She-Hulk: Attorney At Law centers on Bruce Banner’s cousin, Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany), who only wants to do her job, but a blood transfusion accidentally turns her into a superhero. The show also stars Jameela Jamil, Renée Elise Goldsberry, and Ginger Gonzaga, with featured appearances by Mark Ruffalo as Bruce (a.k.a. Hulk), Charlie Cox as Daredevil, and Tim Roth as Abomination. The A.V. Club will recap episodes weekly.

Meanwhile, a leading team of analysts at spy agency GCHQ must attempt to ward off a cyber-attack on the country’s electoral system. My local PBS station is having a John Williams concert tonight at 7:30pm.

10 minutes of music chopped up between hours of Patrick Stoner offering you a tote bag in exchange for your life savings, your car, your real estate, your stocks, bonds and other securities, and oh, yeah…remember us in your estate so even once you’re gone others can continue to benefit from the excellent programming occasionally broadcast in between Patrick Stoner offering you a tote bag in exchange for your life savings, your car, your real estate, your stocks, bonds and other securities . . .

Is the CW in the limited series business now? I don’t follow anything of theirs (I’m not even sure exactly what type of entity they are now) but that Leonardo trailer does not look promising, to put it mildly, and unlike anything of theirs that I’ve been aware of. I’d love a proper Renaissance-era drama that was more about science and art/architecture and especially the drama around those and the church than typical powerful family dramas like The Borgias and Medici (both of which I abandoned and didn’t realize went three seasons) that just happen to be set then but I can see how that would probably flop. At least we’re getting a Ken Burns Leonardo treatment in 2024.

Leonardo showed last year on Amazon in Europe. It was okay, but no Da Vinci’s Demons.

I’ve never heard of that. I think I am probably ignorant of a lot of Stars-type shows. Looks like it’s on Prime Video now. Is it good?

        • aej6ysr6kjd576ikedkxbnag-av says:

Yes. It’s pretty fantastical, with a little too much of the “mystery box” about it but great fun. The actors have gone on to bigger things. It’s probably the best thing David Goyer has done.

  • pearlnyx-av says:

I’m a Walking Dead fan, but this new series sucks. The first episode was okay, but the second was really bad. They actually went the Groundhog Day route with it. I hate when shows do Groundhog Day episodes.

    • mytvneverlies-av says:

Gotta love Parker Posey though. I loved those faces she was making.
It was ridiculous, but I liked it better than the first one. Terry Crews can’t act, and there was just so much stupid shit in there.
Was that an electric bike? How’s that work. Then they’re 12hrs (?) away when the bike’s stolen, but they just walk there separately, and get there the same time. And there’s no way there’s a hipster donut place next to that woman’s house in the country. The second one didn’t make sense, but that’s time travel for you.

  • pearlnyx-av says:

Wait, what about the new show, Sprung, by Gregory Thomas Garcia (Raising Hope and My Name is Earl)? We’ve got Garret Dillahunt and Martha Plimpton together again. It’s on Friday, the 19th on FreeVee.

    • mytvneverlies-av says:

FreeVee’s had a couple things that looked good, but I’ve never gotten around watching it, and I think maybe I never will.

    • luasdublin-av says:

Was a big fan of Raising Hope and MNIE so definitely will try and find this ..well somewhere as I’m not in the US so god knows wherever things on whatever the hell freevee is end up .

  • luasdublin-av says:

As someone how isnt a fan of TWD ( I mean yeah yeah I get it , people are the real monsters ..you dont need 10 seasons of to tell that)show , I honestly loved the first two Tales from.. episodes .Also it really reminds me of the “absolutely not canon , but fuck it ..why not” Superhero ‘Ending” that was in the comics one month. (It was a very very non canon but fun thing with ever dead character being alive , the ‘alive’ characters from teh real comic being killed off …and Cyborgs ..also Aliens and Superpowers).https://walkingdead.fandom.com/wiki/Issue_75/Bonus_Ending#Mind you I was more of a Z Nation person myself , so the idea of doing just stupid stuff and seeing what sticks appeals to me .Next weeks one looks like a load of the usual “why is this happening to us?” angst though , so will probably skip it.
