The biggies

Clipped (FX on Hulu, Tuesday, 12:01 a.m.)

The sports miniseries Clipped features an impressive ensemble, including Ed O’Neill, Jacki Weaver, Laurence Fishburne, Cleopatra Coleman, Kelly AuCoin, Corbin Bernsen, and Rich Sommer. Based on The Sterling Affairs podcast, the six episodes unpack how L.A. Clippers’ coach Doc Rivers, who joined in 2013, dealt with the fallout concerning the team’s racist and erratic owner, Donald Sterling. Look out for The A.V. Club’s review on Monday.

We’re heading into Star Wars territory yet again with the Leslye Headland-helmed The Acolyte. Set 100 years before the events of The Phantom Menace, the eight episodes follow a Jedi master (Squid Game’s Lee Jung-jae) who investigates a mystery that puts him in conflict with a former Padawan (Amandla Stenberg). Manny Jacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith, Charlie Barnett, Dafne Keen, Rebecca Henderson, Carrie-Anne Moss, and David Harewood also appear. The A.V. Club’s review of the show publishes this week.

Hidden gems

Marlon Wayans: Good Grief (Prime Video, Tuesday, 12:01 a.m.)

Filmed at New York City’s famed Apollo Theater, Good Grief is an hour-long standup special in which Marlon Wayans talks about experimenting with his comedy, going to therapy, losing his parents, and life as one of the Wayans brothers.

Peacock marks the start of Pride Month with a documentary all about sex-changing clownfish, gay penguins, and other queer creatures. Narrated by Girls’ Andrew Rannells, the film explores the diversity in animal sexuality and features interviews with scientists and biologists.

Deadly Influence: The Social Media Murders (ID, Monday, 9 p.m.)

The makers of House Of Hammer return with a true-crime series about the dangers of social media. Deadly Influence is a six-parter that focuses on criminals who found their victims through apps like Instagram and TikTok, from a threatening mental-health advocate to a so-called sex expert.

Cameras have been following Gypsy Rose Blanchard, the subject of Hulu’s true-crime drama The Act, since she was released from prison in December 2023. In Life After Lockup, she delves into her divorce and how she’s acclimated to the world after eight years behind bars.
