Yeah, sure, Ernie Hudson will be in Ghostbusters

Aux Features Film

Willing as ever to believe anything—like that it would be kind of fun to work on Ghostbusters again, for example—if there’s a steady paycheck in it, Ernie Hudson has signed on to deliver a cameo in Paul Feig’s new action-comedy reboot of the franchise that made him famous. Joining the already announced Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray, Hudson will show up to briefly interact with new stars Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Melissa McCarthy. If what we’ve heard about Aykroyd and Murray’s appearances hold true, though, Hudson probably won’t be donning the jumpsuit of Winston Zeddemore for the role, since none of the original Ghostbusters characters seem to be appearing in Feig’s new film. That being said, it’ll be fun to see the consistently underrated Hudson play off the new cast, possibly by passing judgment on the size of any branded snack cakes they happen to consume, or just keeping an eye out to make sure Arsenio Hall doesn’t show up and grab any acting roles out from under him again.

Hudson’s involvement checks the last surviving Ghostbuster off the new movie’s cameo bucket list. (Harold Ramis having died in February of last year.) It’ll be interesting to see if Feig and company can lure Annie Potts, Sigourney Weaver, or reclusive brisket appreciator Rick Moranis back into the fold, too, to really seal in that “passing on the legacy” feeling and get all the rampaging fanboys off their backs once and for all.
