It’s been almost four years since Yeah Yeah Yeahs released their 2009 album, It’s Blitz!, but the band announced today via Twitter that its as-yet-unnamed next LP will come out sometime in the spring of 2013. The tweet also mentions something about “DNA upgrades” and “spontaneous evolution,” though it’s unclear whether that has anything to do with the album, or whether Karen O was just thinking out loud. (Ditto with the picture simultaneously posted on the group’s Instagram, featuring what looks like someone taking a lightsaber to a giant chicken.)
Not much is known about the latest effort, other than that it may include some kind of creative collaboration with Mr. Collaborates-with-everybody himself, James Murphy. [via Pitchfork]
