Zero Dark Thirty

Aux News Coming Distractions

"When was the last time you saw Bin Laden?" an angry, hectoring voice screams repeatedly throughout this brief trailer, with the answer being that Zero Dark Thirty-time is the right time to get reacquainted. And speaking of angry, hectoring voices, this film about the manhunt for the world's most-wanted terrorist arrives with plenty of accusations of a political agenda, considering that it's arriving in an election year, and everyone totally would have forgotten that President Obama had anything to do with killing Bin Laden were it not for this movie. But of course, Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter/journalist Mark Boal insist Zero is similarly depoliticized, focusing squarely on the soldiers on the ground who made it happen and not concerning itself with executive decisions. This brief preview definitely backs them up on that, sticking to grainy satellite photos and night-vision goggles rather than White House conference rooms. Granted, you already know how the movie ends, but in this case the real mystery is finding out what happens in the middle.
