The last time we saw Emily, Alexis Bledel’s character in The Handmaid’s Tale, she was being taken away by Gilead’s law enforcement after briefly stealing a car. But—as Bledel teased in an interview with us earlier this year—she’ll be back. Hulu announced today that Bledel will be a series regular rather than a guest star in the second season of the show. The first ten episodes, however, end where Margaret Atwood’s book leaves off. Bledel told us back in May that she wasn’t sure what will become of Emily, who earlier in the season was mutilated after being caught in a relationship with another woman. “I believe that there will be more,” she said. “But I don’t know what happens to her. I haven’t been told what happens to her.” The Handmaid’s Tale is scheduled to return in 2018.
