Brad Pitt and Ben Stiller are teaming up for a midlife crisis comedy

Aux Features Film

Ben Stiller’s spent part of his middle age years in onscreen midlife crisis, from Greenberg to The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty to While We’re Younghell, even Zoolander 2. And it looks like it’s time to break out the skateboard and/or wallet chain again, as Stiller’s currently in talks to join a new comedy about a man questioning his life’s choices.

The film, Brad’s Status, will be directed by Enlightened’s Mike White, who’s also written the script. Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment is producing, though the name in the title is probably just a coincidence, because Pitt has almost certainly never had a midlife crisis. Stiller is poised to play the Brad in question, who “despite a good career and happy family, is obsessed with the better fortunes of his old friends from school.” When Brad takes his son to look at East Coast colleges, he’s “forced to confront his friends and his feelings of failures.” We’re sure his son will be delighted to watch his dad’s insecurities play out before him, and that it will in no way inform his college experience. After all, the movie is promising “hilarious and poignant results.”
