Brokeback lawsuit

Aux Features Newswire

A couple has sued the Chicago Board of Education after their 12-year-old granddaughter was shown Brokeback Mountain in her eighth-grade class last year. According to AP, the girl's substitute teacher, identified only as "Ms. Buford," screened the film in an Ashburn Community Elementary School classroom without parental permission. The grandparents are seeking $500,000 in damages due to the girl's subsequent trauma, which they say has necessitated psychological treatment and counseling.
