It got kind of buried by other news stories about Jamie Foxx, but there were rumors back in March that the set of his Netflix movie Back In Action—a movie that also serves as Cameron Diaz’s return from retirement after the 2014 Annie remake, which also featured Foxx—had become kind of a mess. Supposedly, a crew member got fired for trying to scam Foxx out of thousands of dollars, and Foxx also apparently was acting “crazy” and had a “major meltdown” that involved him personally firing various crew members. The drama was also apparently so extensive that some people claimed Diaz was even regretting her decision to un-retire.

But that’s not true, says Diaz, who had nothing but positive things to say about the experience (and Foxx) in an appearance on the Lipstick On The Rim podcast (via Variety). Diaz said that hearing the stories people were telling about the Back In Action set made her want to scream “What are you talking about?” because Foxx was “like the cheerleader for the entire crew” and that “everybody loves him.” She also added that they all had “so much on the set with him, and he’s just professional on every level.”

Diaz said she “had a blast” making the movie and that the only “hiccups” that happened on the production were “the natural kinds of things that happen”—aside from Foxx’s medical scare. Speaking of, she said that Foxx told her to just ignore the discourse and let people talk, but she said all of the rumors and gossip about the production “really” made her angry anyway.

Back In Action is supposed to hit Netflix at some point next year (which begins pretty soon, in case you haven’t glanced at a calendar in a few weeks or so).

I heard he went all Wesley Snipes and would only answer to the name “Electro.”

There is a thin line between acting crazy and being strung out on something. His recent out of the blue health issues, well known party lifestyle and the unnecessarily hush hush nature of his recovery has always led me to believe he was abusing drugs of some kind and his mostly family friendly public persona would be at risk if he almost died getting yayo’d up or some such.

Um I think a word was missed here:‘”She also added that they all had “so much on the set with him, and he’s just professional on every level.” “’How it should most likely read:She also added that they all had “so much fun on the set with him, and he’s just professional on every level.”You’re welcome.

“so much on the set with him, and he’s just professional on every level.”

The point of putting something in quotation marks is that it is exactly what the person said.

Here is what she actually said:
“We have so much fun on the set with him and he’s just a professional on every level.”

Why stop with the copy/pasting now? At least when you were actually copying and pasting you got the fucking quotes right.

I love that a major star denies any trouble and AV is like “Oh, yeah, we should absolutely run an entire newswire story to point out that she says it’s ok”.When was the last time you heard a major star say “Oh, yeah, that OTHER star? Batsh** crazy, caused all sorts of issues, that dude is BONKERS!” on a movie that has not even been released yet? Yeah, totally believable, Cameron, thanks.

Some of the stars talking about Jeremy Strong before the final season of Succession skirted dangerously close to this lol.

Far be it from me to accuse AVClub of anything resembling journalistic professionalism, but it does make sense that if they ran a story about Jamie Foxx having bad behavior then they would run other stories related to those allegations.

a movie that also serves as Cameron Diaz’s return from retirement after the 2014 Annie remakeI guess she’s getting herself ready to resume her most iconic role.
