After hours of speculation, Celine Dion took the stage. And that's the way it is.

After a whole day of hyping a surprise presenter, the Grammys made good by welcoming Celine Dion. Dion handed out the Grammy for Album of the Year, putting to rest hours of speculation and Taylor Swift-related conspiracy theorizing.

“When I say that I’m happy to be heard, I really mean it from my heart,” Dion said. “Those who have been blessed enough to be here must never take for granted the tremendous love and joy that music brings to our lives and the people around the world.”

Earlier today, Grammys executive producer Ben Winston told CNN to prepare ourselves for a special guest from “an absolute global icon” he believed would cause “jaws will drop to the floor” and inspire people to get on their feet.” That narrowed names down to just about every person at the Grammys, but nevermind, the artist’s “only condition” was that their appearance “was a surprise.”

It was surely a powerful moment for many, seeing Dion, who was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder, stiff-person syndrome, last month, which caused her to postpone some European tour dates.

Nevertheless, near, far, wherever we are, Taylor Swift is there. It seemed fairly pointed to have Dion hand Taylor Swift, of all people, the Grammy for Album of the Year. Just as Sting and Diana Ross handed Dion her Grammy for “My Heart Will Go On,” Dion’s power will go on to Swift. Sadly, there is no Reputation (Taylor’s Version) and “Rep TV” will remain a dream that we believe will go on.
