Charlie Cox isn’t hanging up Matt Murdock’s suit just yet.

In a recent interview with Radio Times, the Daredevil star revealed that the future of the character will involve at least a few more appearances in the ever-expanding world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Cox’s confirmation comes months after Kevin Feige also hinted at Daredevil’s return.

“I know something,” Cox teased. “I don’t know much, but I know there will be something else.”

This coy hint of “something” comes just on the heels of Cox’s cameo as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home. In the film, Cox’s Murdock appears for a quick scene as his lawyer persona, offering some advice to Peter Parker after he is accused of Mysterio’s death.

While Cox went to great lengths to hide his role in the production (a process that included eating his meal while facing a wall during a lunch date Andrew Garfield), hearing about the excitement from audiences about his appearance in No Way Home made up for it. After getting “many text messages” and even a “recording of everyone cheering” during his scene in the film, Cox decided to experience the fan elation for himself.

Unfortunately, the theater crowd he snuck into seemed to be filled with an audience of the calmer sort. “I was so disappointed–my wife was with me and she was recording me, because it’d be fun to have that moment of everyone cheering and then…tumbleweed,” said Cox to RadioTimes.com.

Though we now have confirmation of Cox’s reappearance in the MCU, there’s still the remaining uncertainty surrounding Netflix’s Marvel series as they leave the streaming service at the end of this month. With other Defenders characters like Vincent D’Onofrio’s imposing Kingpin popping up in the Disney+ series Hawkeye, it’s more of a question of when not how the street-level vigilantes will step into the New York City of the MCU.

I mean, obviously he’s in She-Hulk with a courtroom scene. That probably cuts amusingly to a frantic sex scene.

    • dirtside-av says:

I think it’d be much funnier if he’s like “Hey I can help you on this case” and she’s like “No thanks, I’ve seen your courtroom work. But sure, let’s fuck.”

    BRING BACK JESSSICA JONES.

As for Matt Murdoch, who I remind everyone is 100% not Daredevil, that remains to be seen. After all, who wants to follow around a guy who has absolutely nothing to do with Daredevil?

I’m binge-watching Daredevil this week. S1 is nearly the perfect Marvel TV show. S2 was a letdown, Elektra in particular, whom I found cringey AF. S3 looks OK after 2 episodes.

The prison one-take is incredible. Season 2 really was a let down, but after binging the series along with punisher I really was just happy for as much DD as I could get. I know they used stunt doubles, but Charlie Cox did do a lot of stunts himself, and I was thinking he was hesitant to come back because of the obvious toll that takes on the body, especially after not conditioning for it for a few years. I’m glad to have him back though, I’m guessing he’ll pop up in the next spider man.

      • lordoftheducks-av says:

The good thing is they use a lot more stunt doubles and cgi doubles in the films/D+ shows, so it should be a bit easier on him.  Not easy, but easier.

It was a mistake to shoe-horn Elektra into S2. There was too much going on & her casting seemed a bit off to me. I liked S3 more. Only negative I can remember (no spoilers) is that it ended leaving me wanting so much more while, so far, it appears that was the end.

    • bobwworfington-av says:

S3 is pretty good. One thing, with all of the MCU’s genius, that I don’t get.

Clearly 13 episodes is too much. Clearly 6 episodes isn’t enough.

      LET’S DO NINE!

    • mark-t-man-av says:

I’d stick with 3. The new characters (Nadeem and Poindexter) are great.

    • softsack-av says:

I wouldn’t care to split hairs over which one’s better, but S3 is basically on par with S1. If you got through S2, you’re up and out of the quality-gulch.

      • joey-joe-joe-junior-shabadoo-av says:

I plowed though S2 last week. The back half of the season redeemed itself somewhat. At least I wasn’t fast-forwarding though scenes anymore.
S3 so far is really good, and astonishingly grim. Yeesh. Also, wished I known to watch The Defenders before it.

    • halloweenjack-av says:

I hear you WRT S2, but you might want to give S1 of Punisher a try; it hangs together surprisingly well, although it seems almost disconnected from the MCU.

You have to admit her “Hello Matthew” introduction to the show was fantastic

    • briliantmisstake-av says:

I liked Electra just fine, It was the Ninjas that were hugely disappointing. The Punisher stuff was the best part of that season.

    • kaestl-av says:

I actually liked season 3 quite a bit once it really gets rolling in the back half.

    • lordoftheducks-av says:

S1 was a great Kingpin show that realized going into the final few episodes they had to wrap things up and put the focus back on Matt so they rushed the ending.

    • Logical-av says:

      What was cringey about Elektra?

    • waystarroyco-av says:

      Spoiler. Season 3 is not

    • worsehorse-av says:

I preferred Season Two, and rather liked their Elektra.S3’s Bullseye wasn’t bad, but I didn’t like him wearing the Daredevil suit the whole time. It seemed like an excuse to put Matt back in the S1 black, as if the creators were embarrassed to be doing a superhero show.

Still need a Daughters of the Dragon show.

As long as they work in that Danny Rand was taken back to his home planet or something.Anyone who has any feelings for the Netflix MCU says the same thing. “Daredevil? Punisher? Luke Cage? Colleen and Misty? Jessica Jones? Kingpin! Yes yes yes!”“What about Iron Fist?”“errr…”

      • corvus6-av says:

Danny is great when used well. I was so bummed I wouldn’t get to see he and Ward having globetrotting adventures in s3. (Ward was the best character in Iron Fist tho, apologies to Colleen, who was also awesome)

      • justsaydoh-av says:

I’ve always liked the Iron Fist character from the comics, but Netflix didn’t do it right. And I assume at this point they won’t get another chance at it, which is probably just as well.

      • drkschtz-av says:

It’s not 2017 anymore. You don’t get fake points for pretending there’s anything wrong with Danny Rand.

      • haodraws-av says:

Nah I freakin’ love their Iron Fist. I’d do away with their Luke Cage though, recast that dumbass.

    • halloweenjack-av says:

Yes! They could even bring back Trish Walker on some sort of redemption tour.

    • briliantmisstake-av says:

Strongly co-sign. They came so close with that bar fight!

  • lhosc-av says:

Daredevil s4 is so coming to Disney Plus. They’ll get it to a TV-14 level but they will certainly continue off from S3 easily.

    • mark-t-man-av says:

We’re actually getting all of the Marvel Netflix shows on the Canadian version of Disney Plus, so I’m looking forward to watching some of those again.

      • coatituesday-av says:

I think Disney+ just made the announcement that all the Neflix Marvel series are coming there after all?Hope so.  I mean, I’m almost done binging them but I’d like to have them around just in case.

  • yellowfoot-av says:

    Didn’t see this coming.

  • anathanoffillions-av says:

The theater I saw Spodermens in erupted in cheers when he arrived and when each of the bonus mans-spider arrived, he would have been thrilled. Can’t really blame the guy for wanting a little revelry after it looked like they all got the shaft. Other than Iron Fist, the casting was good enough to bring into the MCU, but they would have to power the characters up some, any and all of them would work in She-Hulk and I’d love to see any of the actors working with Maslany. Now that the decision that he is Daredevil in the MCU has been made, there’s no reason not to work it. Only problem with Colter, and that show, other than that it was too damn long, was he is too decent, I like my Luke Cage hard-boiled with moral ambiguity…they also might want to cast a 20-something which would make sense. The main Q for me right now is whether they killed off Kingpin, but we may learn that in Echo (another place Daredevil and the others could surface).

  • pthelin1-av says:

Jessica Jones and the Punisher were my favorites and I hope Disney brings them back too.
I thought the Daredevil/Punisher crossover episodes were fantastic. For me, the biggest letdown was that the Punisher wasn’t part of the Defenders series.
