Chicago, win tickets to see Charlotte Rampling in 45 Years for free

For this year’s Academy Awards, the Best Actress slate doesn’t look too different from any other year: There’s the buzzed-about indie darlings (Brie Larson, Saoirse Ronan) and the perennial favorites (Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchett). Considering that, the year’s most surprising (though certainly no less deserving) nominees is Charlotte Rampling. An iconic actress, Rampling is receiving the first Oscar nod of her 50-year career, for her role as one half of a married couple on the verge of falling apart in director Andrew Haigh’s haunting 45 Years. Our own A.A. Dowd called the film “a sharp portrait of young love,” singling out Rampling’s work as “the greatest performance of a great career.”

45 Years finally makes its way to Chicago today, and The A.V. Club has an opportunity for you to win a pair of passes to catch it at Landmark Century Cinemas for free. Thanks to Sundance Selects, we’re offering 10 pairs of ROE passes for the film, which will be valid at the Landmark for the screening time of your choice. For your chance to win, simply send an email to [email protected] with the subject line “45 Years.” Please be sure to include your name and mailing address in the body of the email. We’ll select our 10 winners, at random, on the morning of Monday, January 25 and get the passes sent out that afternoon. An official plot synopsis and trailer for the film can be found below.

“The winner of the Silver Bear for Best Actress (Charlotte Rampling) and Best Actor (Tom Courtenay) at the Berlin International Film Festival, Andrew Haigh’s (Weekend, Looking) film is a moving and profound look at marriage and the secrets we keep. There is just one week until Kate Mercer’s (Rampling) 45th wedding anniversary and the planning for the party is going well. But then a letter arrives for her husband (Courtenay). The body of his first love has been discovered, frozen and preserved in the icy glaciers of the Swiss Alps. By the time the party is upon them, five days later, there may not be a marriage left to celebrate.”
